Speaker: Konstantinos Andrikopoulos, FORTH/ICE-HT & Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Patras
Time: 12:00 - 12:30
Location: St Trinnean's Room

The presentation focuses on the study of Nano-structured materials for engineering applications, more specifically on the information collected by spectroscopic techniques such as Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, XPS etc., that interrelates the structure at molecular level with the macroscopic observed properties. Several examples will be considered including ones dealing with materials used in the construction of modern membranes possessing extreme gas selectivity and/or water purification, materials used in the construction of innovative solar cells, safety of food packaging materials possessing enhanced barrier properties as well as nano-materials for improved flame retardant properties.
