Neil Mckeown

Professor, School of Chemistry, University of Edinburgh

Professor Neil McKeown (NBM) is the Crawford Tercentenary Chair of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh and leads a research group that seeks to understand the fundamental relationship between molecular structure, solid-state packing and the properties of organic materials. NBM has published over 140 peer-reviewed papers on various aspects of organic materials chemistry, with a recent focus on molecular nanoporous materials and Polymers of Intrinsic Microporosity (PIMs).  PIMs are of growing interest for various membrane applications and are commercially exploited within sensor devices sold by 3M.
